Join The Rosemary Foundation's Army !
To back up the Nursing Staff we need help from all sorts of volunteers, from organising events to washing up, from acting as receptionist at our new offices to filling envelopes, from befrienders to those who will do shopping or gardening for a family needing our help in all sorts of ways.
To help run our organisation we need people to organise fund raising events. Have a look at the diary at see the sort of events we do. Have you any new ideas? Do you know of an area that would enjoy an evening out, perhaps a quiz? Could you persuade a friend to open her garden for the afternoon whilst you lay on teas and a raffle? If you have any suggestions I would be glad to hear from you.
We need to add to the small army of volunteers that we can draw on for support at events. It may be that you do not have the time to organise an event but could turn up on the day, perhaps bring a cake and make the tea? Could you greet people as they arrive, give out leaflets and make sure everyone has a seat? Would you mind helping to clear up afterwards and put the crockery away?
Have you experience of office work? You may have heard of our new office complex at Langrish. Could you spare a couple of hours a week to answer the phone, and help to run a mailing list and send out leaflets and newsletters? Would you mind keeping the offfice tidy and vacuuming the carpet? At present the nurses do it and it is not the best use of their time.
Then, and very importantly, we sometimes need volunteers to befriend our patients and their families. Occasionally it is not enough to provide nursing support. What if the patient was the family member who drove for shopping trips, walked the dog, or mowed the lawn? Could we call on you to take on these tasks, all of which are currently being done by some of our nurses. If you took them on you are providing more nursing time.
None of our volunteers are asked to work without support.
Our events organisers can have help to find the venue, provide extra pairs of hands, produce publicity, tickets and posters, even be lent teapots and cups and saucers. We will publicise your event on this website and in our newsletter. Likewise a report and pictures can appear afterwards to thank your supporters and volunteers.
Staff at Langrish will work alongside other volunteers until they are comfortable. Needless to say you will not be asked to work on anything of a confidential nature.
Befrienders do not have to undertake any tasks they do not feel happy with. If asked to walk a dog that is too big for them, or mow a lawn with a strange lawn mower they should always speak to the co-ordinator who will find someone to asist or take on that task.
The Foundation can also provide speakers for your event - either to talk about the work of The Rosemary Foundation, to accept a donation, or to entertain your guests.
We know there are people out there who can help us - and would be glad to do so "if I knew you needed help" - so we are asking -
CAN YOU HELP US, PLEASE?
